The second stop on our learning journey took place in Lahti, Finland. The seminar concentrated on different learners in different environments which the participants noticed already the first morning. The classroom was not a typical one but encouraged the learners to enter with a different mindset. The theme continued with learning at the workplace through visits to the area’s biggest employer Cooperative Hämeenmaa and to Lahden Työn Paikka, a service provider for the unemployed. Reflection on these visits was fruitful: it became clear that the role of the workplace tutor exists and it requires special training. The workplace tutors are not trainers but guides and mentors in different learning activities.
